Don't Wait for the Perfect Time
When do photographs matter? Many families like to “save” photo sessions for good times. This strategy can lead to amnesia about our family and cultural history. How many of our ancestors were affected by the 1918 pandemic? And how few of us know stories of their experiences?
I encourage every family to take photos even if waiting until later may feel like it might be better, easier, and more perfectly perfect. Of course, we like to remember birthdays, holidays, and vacations. But wouldn’t it be amazing to have photos of an ordinary afternoon in your great-grandparent’s lives?
And I have a secret, you may never find a time perfect enough to book a photography session. And, another secret, the photos from these days will help you share stories in five, ten, or twenty years. Because we are all traveling together. And while you may plan on photos later when everything’s easier, something about this time will evoke the strength and determination that you bring to each and every day. Challenges have value.
